Sinn Féin's Cllr. Daithí Doolan has welcomed the Health Service Executives commitment to build a state of the art health centre in Dublin's south inner city. The site of this new centre is on Marks Lane on Pearse Street.

Speaking after a meeting last night with local residents & HSE management, Cllr. Doolan said:

"The local community are very anxious that this project goes ahead as soon as possible. The services being proposed will include primary health care, minor surgery, GPs, consulting rooms, physiotherapy and speech therapy. We can expect the centre to be fully functioning within 12 months."

Cllr. Doolan explained,

"This will be a major step forward in the provision of health care here in the inner city. We will now be holding the government to their word and ensure the funding remains in place."
