Doolan welcomes 12m euro refurbishmentPublished: 7 July, 2004 Sinn Féin Representative for Dublin South East, Councilor Daithí Doolan, speaking at the opening of the refurbished flats in Boyne Street, paid tribute, " to City Council and residents for working in co-operation to ensure the full refurbishment of the 78 units here in Dublin's inner city. This refurbishment here today was completed at a cost of 12 million euros. It shows clearly what can be done when City Council management, residents and local politicians can achieve when working in partnership."Mr. Doolan said, "Local government is about delivering for local communities and today's opening is a great example of just how we can do that once given the proper resources. While welcoming this refurbishment I will also continue to work to ensure that all flat complexes across the inner city are refurbished to this high standard. The recent announcement that the government have an extra 1 billion euros in the exchequer will ensure that can now happen." In conclusion Mr. Doolan said, "today Boyne Street has set the standard, now we must continue to maintain that standard for all Council housing in the capital." |
