Doolan calls for full inquiryPublished: 28 June, 2004 Sinn Féin Representative for Dublin South East, Councilor Daithí Doolan, speaking after yesterday's fire in the docklands, called for a, "full and open enquiry to determine the cause of this blaze. Residents here in Dublin's docklands are very lucky not to be dealing with fatalities or serious injury.I can only imagine the amount of damage done to the environment due to toxins released from this fire. But I am equally concerned for the protection of the surrounding community. Residents were very upset and distraught at the sight of such an enormous fire right on their doorstep." Mr. Doolan concluded by calling on the Minister for Environment, Martin Cullen,"to oversee an inquiry to determine the cause of the fire. I would also call on the Minister to outline what measures will be taken to ensure this will not happen again." ENDS |
