Recent cutbacks by the Department of Education and Science has impacted negatively on adult education. Funding for adult education has seen cut back after cutback. It is 4 years since the publication of the government's White Paper on Adult Education, Learning for Life, it is high time this government delivered on those promises." Mr. Doolan said, "This campaign will those of us with an interest in adult and community education an opportunity to bring to the fore the need to reverse the cutbacks and invest adult education. Every adult learner should have access to local education and training opportunities. To ensure any return to education or training childcare or eldercare must also be provided. " Mr. Doolan concluded by calling on the Minister for Education & Science, Noel Dempsey, "To put an immediate halt to his cuts and give an equal opportunity to all in their pursuit of education and training."
