Doolan - Opinion Poll reflects response on the door stepsPublished: 16 May, 2004 Sinn Féin Representative for Dublin South East, Daithí Doolan, responding to today's opinion poll in The Sunday Business Post said, "the opinion poll indicates a significant swing towards Sinn Féin, particular here in Dublin. While opinion polls are not scientific, it certainly reflects the response we have been getting on the door steps. The public are angry at this government and are looking for a real alternative. We are confident that we are that alternative."Mr. Doolan said: "Sinn Féin are well placed to pick up on public discontent with the government parties. The public have been looking for real alternatives and we are proving to be that alternative. People can not be taken for granted. The government's broken promises are not being forgotten and their policies are failing the people. Sinn Féin is confident that we will have a good election. Our politics are about delivering for people and the communities they live in. The issues we are campaigning on are peoples issues such as the right to housing, protecting our environment, health care and facilities for young people. " Mr. Doolan concluded by saying, "there is a real need for a broad left coalition that will take on the politics of corruption and cartelism of consecutive governments. Sinn Féin is quite prepared to work with others to ensure this happens." ENDS |
