Sinn Féin challenge Marine Terminals Ltd

Published: 22 July, 2009

Sinn Féin has today challenged the Marine Terminals Limited to explain why they are using bully boy tactics in an attempt to force the company's workforce out their jobs.

Speaking ahead of tonight's Dublin Port Workers Support Group meeting SF said, "The cause of this strike is the bullyboy, union bashing tactics employed by management at Marine Terminals Limited in Ringsend. They have simply forced new employment contracts on its workforce. These contracts are wholly unacceptable. The company have refused to engage with the Labour Relations Court. This is deplorable behaviour from management and must cease immediately.

"This evening's meeting is part of a series of actions that the workforce and local communities will be taking to highlight their plight. The workforce has enjoyed the full support of both myself and the Sinn Féin party and will continue to do so until there is a satisfactory outcome to this dispute."
