Sinn Féin to meet UNITE on job creation

Published: 13 May, 2009

A Sinn Féin delegation led by Dublin MEP Mary Lou McDonald will meet with the leadership of the UNITE trade Union to discuss job creation tomorrow morning at 10am. The meeting, taking place at the unions offices on Middle Abbey street, comes the day after UNITE published their job creation document which Sinn Féin described as a "mature contribution" to the current debate surrounding the economy and growing job losses.

Joining Mary Lou will be Sinn Féin TD and Economic Spokesperson Arthur Morgan and the chair of Dublin City Councils Econcomic Task Force, Cllr. Daithí Doolan.

Speaking before the meeting Cllr. Doolan said, "Myself, Mary Lou and Arthur will be meeting the the leadership of UNITE to discuss the job creation proposals they published today and our own document, which we launched a few weeks ago aimed at defending existing jobs and creating new ones.

"The publication of UNITEs proposals is a welcome development in these uncertain times. It represents a mature contribution to the ongoing discussions and debate about the economy and it needs to be considered seriously.
