Sinn Fein leads protest against Dublin Bus cuts - Doolan

Published: 1 March, 2009

Sinn Féin Dublin City Councillor Daithi Doolan was amongst those who held a protest on Saturday last, February 28th at Ringsend Bus Garage, Ringsend Road.

Speaking at the protest, Councillor Doolan said:

"Today's protest with residents of Ringsend gives the an opportunity to our community to voice their opposition to the proposed cuts to our local service. If government cuts go ahead then Ringsend and Donnybrook garages will lose over 40 buses. This will be a disaster for local people. If the government carry out their threatened cuts it will mean more traffic chaos, more pollution, longer waits for less buses and more people on Dublin's dole ques."

Councillor Doolan concluded by demanding:

"That the government immediately lift the threat to cut the bus local service."
