SF protest against incineration and call for recycling plant in RingsendPublished: 16 January, 2009
As part of Sinn Féin's national campaigns against incineration, Dublin City Councillor Daithí Doolan today called for the residents of Dublin South East to continue their boycott of Dublin City Council's Open Day on the Waste To Energy Project and to join the Sinn Féin protest outside Clanna Gael Fontenoy GAA Club in Sean Moore Park on Saturday morning, 17th
Cllr Doolan said: "We will be protesting outside the meeting that the proposer's of this unwanted Incinerator are having in the GAA Club. "Already, €20Million of taxpayer's money has been wasted by Dublin City Council trying to put a positive spin on a toxic proposal. "This hugely unpopular development is dangerous and will, in the current financial climate, not be viable and should not be built. Instead the site should be given over to an economically viable and ecologically positive recycling plant. "We will also be conducting a door-to-door campaign with the community on Saturday morning, assisting residents who wish to send in formal protests to John Gormley, the Minister responsible for this continuing saga."
