Sinn Féin Dublin City Councillor, Daithí Doolan has today welcomed the opportunity for the Palestinian Ambassador to Ireland, Dr. Hikmat Ajjuri, to address Dublin City Council on the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
Cllr. Doolan explained, "Both The Palestinian & Israeli ambassadors have been invited to address Dublin City Council following the adoption of a motion at the recent City Council meeting."
The meeting with the Palestinian Ambassador and representatives of all political parties will take place in City Hall at 11am tomorrow morning (Wednesday, 14th January).
Speaking before the meeting Councillor Doolan said, "I welcome this opportunity for a cross section of political opinion in the Capital to hear at first hand from the Palestinian Ambassador about the ongoing crisis in Gaza. A crisis for which the Israeli government must take full and total responsibility. It is an absolute outrage that almost one thousand Palestinians have been killed in a criminal onslaught by the Israeli government since December 27th.
"We all need to stand united in defence of the Palestinian people's right to exist in peace and their right to have access to essential services including healthcare, water and electricity.
In conclusion Cllr. Doolan said, "I hope the Israeli Ambassador too takes up the Dublin City Council's invitation to meet with Dublin City Council on Friday and explain his country's actions in Gaza."
